Who We Are
Joan Peters was born in Paris where she learned to love Art. She often visited the Louvre and Musee du Jeu de Paume and wished to become an "artist", but realities led her to study Law and pursue an International Business career.
In the 1980's, she decided to follow her dream and studied extensively, attending many classes and workshops taught by nationally known artists.
Over time, she has developed her own style which she considers eclectic. She loves new subjects, new materials and experiments.
Since moving to Sarasota in 2000, she particularly has enjoyed "plein air" painting which takes her to our beaches, parks and picturesques local sites.
In late 2001, she opened the JOAN PETERS GALLERY located in the Village of the Arts in Bradenton, Florida. The Village has become a vibrant artist colony and is said to be the largest in southwest Florida.
The Joan Peters Gallery is a favorite stop for visiting art lovers.
Monthly Artwalks and special events take place year round in the Village. Event listings can be found in local newspaper, on facebook and on the website.
